IFKM plans to take the first steps to make the museum accessible to people with disabilities. It also wants to draw public attention to the issue of accessibility of the city and the museum in particular for people with visual impairments.
The number of visually impaired and blind people is growing rapidly. Experts are developing principles and methods for adapting different genres of visual arts to their perception by visually impaired visitors. The installation of adaptive navigation systems will make it easier for this category of visitors to perceive the exposition and ensure safe movement around the museum in general.
The Urban Space 100 grant will be used to purchase and install tactile aluminium indicators, yellow warning tape for marking steps and a circle for marking glass/transparent showcases, tactile information signs in Braille, and tactile paintings (tactile images of IFKM exhibits).
