URBAN SPACE 100 GETS ITS SECOND [OPEN DOOR] AWARD FROM DOSTUPNO.UA
On 27/08/2020, the Urban Space 100 social restaurant got its second award [Open Doors] from the Dostupno.UA initiative, which supports the ideas of accessible urban areas and full inclusion of people with disabilities into public life. This year, the restaurant ranked third in the Business category. The Ostannia barykada art restaurant operating in Kyiv was ranked first, while the Ibis Styles Lviv Center hotel in Lviv and the Osvitoriia Hub in Kyiv were ranked second. It is worth noting that the award ceremony took place online so as not to expose people to the dangers associated with COVID-19.
As previously reported, the first [Open Door] Urban Space 100 award was granted in 2018, when it was ranked first in the Restaurant category. Then the jury acknowledged its convenient entrance, spacious premises, accessible WCs and friendly staff, as well as emphasised that this was a small list of criteria based on which the jury of the [Open Doors] award had ever recognised friendly and accessible public spaces for groups with reduced mobility: Pregnant women, children under 7 years old, elderly people, people with disabilities, those who have suffered permanent or temporary injuries, and others.
